Harvest Brown seamless gutter and downspout on a dark wood-sided Vernonia home surrounded by fir trees

Harvest Brown System on a Wooded Lot

  • 6-inch seamless gutters
  • 3x4 downspouts
  • Harvest Brown finish
  • 9 cleanouts

This was a full tear-off and new install: about 214 feet of gutter, 192 feet of downspout, and 14 outlets. That many outlets on one house means water never has to travel far to get out of the trough.

With firs close to the house, the owner can open the nine cleanouts at ground level to clear the downspouts, with no ladder and no taking pipe apart. The Harvest Brown finish blends with the dark wood siding.

Cream 6-inch seamless gutters and 3x4 downspout on a green manufactured home in Vernonia

Cream Gutters on a Home, White on the Shop

  • 6-inch seamless gutters
  • 3x4 downspouts
  • Cream finish on the house
  • White on the shop
  • Cleanouts

This property had a manufactured home and a small shop, and both got new systems on the same job. The house runs are cream to match its trim. The shop got white, which suits its pale metal siding.

The old gutters and downspouts were removed and hauled away. The fascia and rafter tails were checked before the new hangers went in.

Specifications from the job's work order.

Both jobs used 6-inch gutters, but that was a decision for those two roofs, not a rule for Vernonia. Plenty of homes here drain fine with 5-inch gutters and 2x3 downspouts. Ask us to size yours.

How We Install

What “Seamless” Actually Means

We roll gutter from aluminum coil in your driveway and cut each straight run to the length of that roofline. A long run is one piece, so there are no joints along it to leak. Corners, end caps, and outlets are still connections, and we seal and fasten each one.

  • Measured on the building. Run lengths and outlet locations come from your roof, not stock lengths.
  • Hidden hangers and screws. No spikes through the face of the gutter. On 6-inch gutter, hangers go in about every 2 feet.
  • Pitched toward the outlets. Each run slopes gently so water moves instead of sitting.
  • Water-tested. We run a hose through the finished system to check flow, leaks, and pooling before we leave.

Sizing

5-Inch or 6-Inch Gutters for Your Vernonia Home?

A 5-inch gutter is not inferior, and 6-inch is not automatically needed. The size should come from how much water each run has to carry.

Standard

5-Inch K-Style with 2x3 Downspouts

A good match for smaller roof areas, simple rooflines, moderate pitches, and runs with enough outlets. Most one-story homes with a straightforward roof fall here.

From $7.75 per linear foot, white

Higher Capacity

6-Inch K-Style with 3x4 Downspouts

Worth it when a lot of roof drains into one run, the pitch is steep, a valley dumps into a short section, or runs are long with few places for outlets. The 3x4 downspout has about twice the opening of a 2x3.

From $8.75 per linear foot, white

Published per-foot rates. Downspouts run $6.50 (2x3) or $7.00 (3x4) per linear foot, and premium colors add $300 per project. The minimum project is $450. Your written estimate reflects measured footage, downspout count, corners, removal of old gutters, and any fascia or flashing work. For more on the bigger size, see our guide to 6-inch K-style gutters.

Vernonia Conditions

What the Nehalem Valley Asks of a Gutter System

Vernonia sits in the Nehalem River valley on the east side of the Coast Range. Summers are dry and the rain comes through fall and winter. Plenty of properties sit close to fir and cedar. That shapes a few practical decisions.

Conifer Needles

Douglas fir and cedar drop short needles that pack into outlets and downspout elbows. Bigger outlets, 3x4 downspouts, and ground-level cleanouts all make that debris easier to live with.

Guards Where They Pay Off

A stainless micro-mesh guard is built for fine needles and makes sense when trees overhang the roof. On a lot with open sky above the roof, regular cleaning may be all the gutters need.

Shops and Outbuildings

Rural properties often have a shop, garage, or barn that sheds as much water as the house. We can measure and quote them on the same visit, like the house-and-shop job above.

Downspouts & Drainage

Gutters Only Work if the Water Has Somewhere to Go

We plan the outlets and downspouts before we hang a single run. A gutter can be sized perfectly and still overflow if it drains through one small outlet at the far end.

  • Outlet count. Long runs and valleys get more outlets, so no section carries too much water.
  • 2x3 or 3x4. We match downspout size to the gutter and the roof area feeding it.
  • Cleanouts. A $75 fitting near the ground that lets you clear needles from the downspout.
  • Discharge. Downspouts empty where water flows away from the foundation, not back toward it.

Questions

Vernonia Gutter Installation FAQ

How much does gutter installation cost in Vernonia?

It depends on measured footage, 5-inch or 6-inch gutters, how many downspouts and what size, corners, removal of old gutters, fascia or flashing work, and color. Our published rates start at $7.75 per linear foot for 5-inch and $8.75 for 6-inch seamless gutters in white. Downspouts are $6.50 (2x3) or $7.00 (3x4) per foot, and the minimum project is $450. We measure and give you a written price.

Do you install seamless gutters in Vernonia?

Yes. We form 5-inch and 6-inch K-style aluminum gutters on-site at your property and cut each run to the length of your roofline. Recent Vernonia jobs include a Harvest Brown system and a cream system, both 6-inch with 3x4 downspouts.

Should I get 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?

It depends on the roof. Five-inch gutters with 2x3 downspouts suit many homes. Six-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts make sense for large roof areas, steep pitches, valleys, and long runs. We size each run after measuring rather than defaulting to the bigger option.

Why would a home need 3x4 downspouts?

A 3x4 downspout has about twice the opening of a 2x3, so it moves more water and passes needles and debris more easily. It usually pairs with 6-inch gutters or a roof section that sends a lot of water to one outlet.

How long does gutter installation take?

Many straightforward residential installations are finished in one working day. Larger rooflines, a house plus a shop, difficult access, or fascia repairs can take longer.

Can you replace my existing gutters?

Yes. We remove and haul away the old gutters and downspouts, inspect the fascia and rafter tails, replace rotten fascia where needed, and install the new system.

Do gutter guards work with fir needles?

The right ones do. Fine fir and cedar needles slip through coarse screens, so a stainless micro-mesh guard like LeafBlaster Pro is the option built for them. If trees do not overhang your roof, you may not need guards at all.

Do you install gutters on shops and outbuildings?

Yes. One of the Vernonia projects on this page included white gutters on a small shop alongside the house, done on the same job.
