Gutter Installation and Repair for Columbia County and the Portland Metro
American Gutter Service measures your roofline, forms seamless aluminum gutters on site, and places downspouts where the water can drain away from the house. We also fix gutters that leak, sag, or pull loose, and add guards when nearby trees call for them.

Start With the Problem
Which Gutter Service Do You Need?
Gutter trouble usually shows up as a symptom, not a service name. Find what you're seeing below, and we'll confirm the right fix when we look at the roofline.
-
New or replacement gutters
Gutter Installation
Usually the right call when:
- A house, shop, or addition has no gutters
- Old sectional gutters leak at many joints
- Sagging or damage runs along much of the roof
We form 5- or 6-inch K-style seamless gutter on site, hang it on hidden hangers, and pair it with 2×3 or 3×4 downspouts sized to the roof.
-
One area is failing
Gutter Repair
Usually the right call when:
- A corner, end cap, or seam drips
- One run sags or has pulled off the fascia
- A downspout came loose or got crushed
If the rest of the system is sound, a repair is usually better value than replacement. If it isn't, we'll explain what we found.
-
Debris keeps clogging
Gutter Guards
Worth a look when:
- Fir, cedar, or pine needles fill the gutters
- You clean them several times a year
- Overflow returns soon after cleaning
Easy Lock suits leaves and larger debris; LeafBlaster Pro stainless micro-mesh is made for fine needles. Guards cut down on debris, but they still need occasional checks.
-
Water lands in the wrong place
Downspouts & Drainage
Worth a look when:
- Clean gutters still overflow in heavy rain
- Water pools against the foundation
- A downspout is bent, detached, or undersized
An added outlet, a larger 3×4 downspout, or a cleanout can solve overflow without replacing the gutter itself.

Pricing
What Goes Into Your Gutter Estimate
We publish our component prices so you can plan a budget before anyone climbs a ladder. Your written estimate applies them to your home's measurements and the scope you choose.
What changes the total
- Footage. Gutters are measured along the roof edge; downspouts from the gutter to the ground.
- Gutter and downspout size. 5-inch gutters are often paired with 2×3 downspouts, and 6-inch with 3×4 where more water collects.
- Removing the old system, when it's coming down.
- Roof-edge repairs such as fascia or drip edge, only where the wood or flashing needs it.
- Color. White is standard; premium colors add a flat charge per project.
- Add-ons like downspout cleanouts and gutter guards.
- Access, the number of stories, and how many buildings are included.

After You Reach Out
What Happens After You Call, Text, or Send the Form
We follow up with a few questions
We'll ask for the address, what's going wrong, and whether it's a house, shop, or outbuilding. Photos by text help us understand the problem before we visit.
We measure the roofline
On site, we look at roof area, pitch, valleys, run lengths, outlet locations, fascia condition, and where each downspout can drain.
You get a written estimate
It lists gutter size, color, footage, downspouts, removal, and any roof-edge work, with one total for the scope you approve.
Installation day
Old gutters come down and the fascia gets checked. New runs are formed on site, hung on hidden hangers, and sealed at corners, outlets, and end caps. Downspouts are strapped and set to carry water away from the foundation.
Water test, cleanup, and walkthrough
We run water through the system to check flow and connections, collect scraps and stray screws, and walk you through the finished work.

How long installation takes
Many straightforward homes are finished in one working day. Larger rooflines, more than one building, tricky access, or fascia repair can add time, and your estimate will say so.
Warranty
Warranty coverage is written into your estimate, and lifetime warranty options are available on installations. Ask which coverage applies before you approve the work.

Common Questions
Gutter Questions We Hear Often
Do you repair gutters another company installed?
Yes. We repair existing gutters no matter who installed them. If a system is too far gone for a repair to hold, we'll tell you and can quote a replacement instead.
Should I get 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?
It depends on how much roof drains to each run, the pitch, any valleys, and how many outlets the run can have. 5-inch gutters suit many homes and are often paired with 2×3 downspouts; 6-inch gutters hold more water and are often paired with 3×4. We measure before recommending either. More detail: when 6-inch K-style gutters make sense.
Are seamless gutters completely seamless?
Straight runs are formed as one continuous piece, so there are no joints along the run. Corners, outlets, and end caps are still connections, and each one is sealed. See how the two systems compare in pre-cut vs. seamless gutters.
If I get gutter guards, will I still need to clean my gutters?
Occasionally, yes. Guards reduce what gets inside the gutter, but debris can still build up on top and outlets can still need attention, especially under firs and cedars. Plan on periodic checks.
Can I text photos before scheduling a visit?
Yes. Text photos to (503) 308-1174 with your address or ZIP code. Photos help us understand the problem, and we measure on site before writing an installation estimate.
Is there a minimum job size?
The minimum installation project is $450. Repairs are quoted once we know what's wrong.
